WEATHER PERMITTING YOU CHOOSE THE DAY AND AWAY WE GO.
INCLUDES SAFETY - WEATHER AND SITE SELECTION, SAFETY SYSTEMS, 4 LINE SETTUP, LAUNCH & LAND, NEUTRAL AND POWER ZONES, POWER DRAG THROUGH WATER IN HARNESS. 2 HOURS.
Instruction according to International Kiteboarding Organisation (IKO) Standards. All instructors IKO trained.
$200 per person. 2 hours.
Max 3 people per group. For groups of 2 or 3 lesson time is extended to allow students time to get setup in wetsuits, safety gear, suncream etc
During the lesson you will learn how to;
analyse the wind conditions and site location to determine if it is safe to fly your kite,
set-up a kite and lines,
launch and land a kite safely,
pilot the kite on the beach in the neutral zone,
use the safety system to disable the kite,
relaunch the kite from the water,
pilot the kite off the shore in the neutral zone, then into the power zone to initiate a body drag through the water with a series of power dives, then pilot the kite back to the shore in the neutral zone (Each student will do at least 3 of these body drag runs in the first lesson),
walk the kite in the neutral zone back up the beach,
pack up the lines and kite so it will be easy to settup next time you fly.
Lesson 1 concentrates on safety and flying the kite without a board. This is an internationally accepted format for teaching kitesurfing (International Kiteboarding Organisation, IKO) and it is important to learn to fly the kite while bodydragging as it is the safest and most efficient way to power up the kite and learn to control the power. During Lesson 2 (see lesson 2) the board is introduced and waterstarts are practiced.
